Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
ALIA is the professional organisation for the Australian library and information services sector. It seeks to empower the profession in the development, promotion and delivery of quality library and information services to the nation, through leadership, advocacy and mutual support.

The governing bodies of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and the Australian School Library Association (ASLA) acknowledge the importance of working together, now and in the future - to better meet the professional and representational needs of those within, or interested in, the school library and information sector.
To achieve this the two governing bodies have agreed to co-operate and collaborate on the initiatives outlined and to pursue further opportunities as they arise. In general, collaboration and co-operation will focus on areas:

Terms of Reference -- The ALIA/ASLA Policy Advisory Group is to advise the ALIA Board of Directors and the ASLA National Council on:
Teaching Australia -- ASLA is a member of the Teaching Australia Network
Teaching Australia - Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership - supports and advances the effectiveness and standing of the teaching profession. It was launched as a permanent body on 5 November 2005, following a period of interim operation as the National Institute for Quality Teaching and School Leadership (NIQTSL). Teaching Australia seeks to be a strong unifying body acting in the interests of teachers and school leaders, drawing the profession together to promote quality teaching and school leadership for the good of all Australians.
Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) -- ASLA has contributed to the discussions on the development of a national curriculum
ACARA is responsible for a national curriculum, a national assessment program and a national data collection and reporting program.
International Association of School Libraries (IASL) -- ASLA is a member of IASL
The mission of the International Association of School Librarianship is to provide an international forum for those people interested in promoting effective school library media programs as viable instruments in the educational process.
Special Interest Groups (IASL)
The Special Interest Groups were established by IASL to give members with similar and particular professional interests in school librarianship the opportunity to exchange ideas and be informed about current developments in an area of topical interest. The Special Interest Groups are advocacy, literacy, information and communication technologies, school library education, international development, children's and young adult literature, information literacy, international schools and school library research.
School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa -- affiliated with ASLA since 2003
SLANZA aims to strengthen and promote the role of school libraries, to enable all school communities to become information literate.
Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL)
The Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) is the major professional association for educational leaders and our views are sought and respected by government and policy makers. ACEL draws its membership from all sectors of education in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the rest of the world.
National Education Form (NEF)
The National Education Forum is a coalition of national associations of practisingeducators and parents created in 1992 with a view to enhancing their individual and collective capacity to respond to national education policy, issues, initiatives and directions.
Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT)
The Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) has put together several selections of mathematics resources which may be of particular interest to teacher librarians. Also, take the time to view their Projects section to source activities that might be appropriate for school library themes or displays.
Education Network Australia (EdNA)
EdNA is a network of and for the Australian education community (government and non-government schooling systems, vocational education and training, adult community education and higher education)
The Children's Book Council of Australia aims to foster children's enjoyment of books.
Curriculum Corporation works in the education sector. The company develops products and services to help schools improve student learning.
An Australian Teacher Librarians' Net-work. OZTL_NET is a listserv for the Australian Teacher Librarian community. It is an electronic service uniquely designed to meet the professional information needs of Australian Teacher Librarians.
