About ASLA-Tasmania

ASLA-Tasmania is a professional organisation for teacher librarians and library technicians working in Tasmanian school libraries.

Goals

To promote the development of library services in Tasmanian schools and colleges To improve the conditions of school library personnel in Tasmania To foster the professional development of school library personnel in Tasmania

 

Professional development activities

Regular meetings occur during the school year, organised by the northern and southern groups for their local members. A state-wide seminar or conference is held each year.

 

Communication with national association

ASLA-Tasmania's interests are kept before ASLA, the national body with which it is affiliated, by state representatives on the national ASLA Council and the ASLA Board of Publications, through regular teleconferences and the annual meeting of representatives at ASLA Council. 


 

Communication

ASLA-Tasmania communicates on a regular school term basis with its members through this website or via the members only email list asla_tas_ members. There is also an executive email list.  To communicate with the wider library community in Tasmania use the Tasmanian library listserv TAS-LIB.

ASLA-Tas has also established an email discussion group for ALL non-teaching library staff to chat about libraries, share issues, or just get useful information called Tassie School Library Tidbits.
