At the National Year of Reading 2012 Legacy event held at the National Library of Australia, Arts Minister Simon Crean announced a new national campaign to promote early literacy and reading skills following the overwhelming success of the 2012 National Year of Reading initiative.

Speaking at the National Year of Reading legacy event with Governor-General Quentin Bryce at the National Library of Australia, Mr Crean said the Love2Read campaign and the Let's Read national campaign will come together to improve literacy and promote libraries across the country.

"The Let's Read National Early Literacy Campaign will see the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, the Smith Family and Australia's vast network of public libraries join forces in partnership to promote reading with young children," Mr Crean said.
