ASLA Resources & advocacy

ASLA aims to be a strong and influential advocate for school libraries.

We do this by:

    • Supporting school library staff to develop the skills that effectively market their services to families, faculties and key decision-makers within their schools.
    • Direct promotion of the benefits of school libraries to organisations that represent different school sectors (e.g. principals; English teachers).
    • Developing messaging to educate governments and the public on the importance of school libraries.
    • Partnering with organisations and individuals on initiatives that support school libraries.
    • Representing members in policy issues and the development of standards for school libraries.

Evaluation to fuel advocacy for writer visits in Australian schools: Open-source impact resource (OSIR)

Dr. Margaret Merga

We want our students to have inspiring experiences with writers in their schools, but this is not always easy to achieve. Justifying the investment in getting writers into schools can be challenging in some contexts. Any business case that we produce in schools can involve justification and alignment with identified needs. This resource can help you to advocate to get writers into your school.
