This prestigious national award celebrates an Australian School Library Professional who has significantly contributed to their school community and beyond. It recognises their exceptional achievements in professional knowledge, practice and engagement, and the positive influence they have had on teaching and learning in their library.

Through their high level of achievement in professional knowledge, practice, and engagement nominees for this award have made a positive impact on teaching and learning in their school and contributed to the school library profession at a state, national and/or international level.

HOW TO NOMINATE

An individual may nominate themselves, or principals, professional colleagues and members of the school community are also encouraged to nominate their library staff members. 

ASLA membership is not required.

Nominations open Monday 2 November 2026 and must be submitted by midday Friday 5 February 2027.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible you must be a resident of Australia and hold a recognised tertiary degree in library studies, from TAFE or a university.

PRIZES

The recipient of this award will receive:

• Complimentary 12 month Personal Professional Membership to ASLA
• A $1,000 professional learning grant
• A trophy and certificate, presented at the ASLA AGM held during the Biennial Conference 2027, or by alternate arrangement
• Complimentary registration to the ASLA Biennial Conference 2027. This covers registration only and cannot be transferred. Flights, accommodation, social events and any other expenses are at the attendee's cost.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Submissions require the following:

• Your personal details.
• Scanned copies of your TAFE or tertiary qualifications, degrees, certificates and awards.
• A statement of achievement that addresses the What the panel are looking for, showing how you have made an impact within your school community and beyond.
• Contact details for two referees, one of whom must be your school principal. 
• Any additional supporting evidence (optional).
