About the ASLA Mentor Program 2025/2026

 The ASLA Mentor Program is only available to current ASLA Members, including active bundle members

 You can register as a mentor and/or mentee

 You must choose one (1) of the two training sessions to attend live.

Session 1 - Mon 16 June - 8:00am – 11:00am (AEST) or

Session 2 - Mon 16 June - 5:00pm – 8:00pm (AEST)

Full attendance at the training session is compulsory to participate in the Program.

The training session will cover:

○ Time commitment

○ Difference between mentoring/coaching

○ Characteristics of mentors and mentees

○ Establishing expectations

○ How to run a quality mentoring conversation (What does it look/sound/feel like?)

 No recordings, transcripts, etc. will be offered throughout the Program

 On completion of the training session, you will be sent the ASLA mentoring booklet, which further outlines the program and also contains the agreement form each participant is required to sign. Pairing will be completed and each pair will receive joint notification via the nominated email addresses.

 Quarterly feedback sessions will be held with the Mentor Program facilitators.

 Important information regarding the Program

 Members (including bundle members) participating in the Program are expected to maintain an active membership status for the duration of the Program
 The initial training session is compulsory - non-attendance means you are ineligible to continue with the program
 Participants can choose to be a mentee and/or a mentor - though depending on numbers, we may not be able to accommodate you for both

 Participants are expected to engage in the quarterly feedback sessions with the Mentor Program facilitator/s

 It is not always possible to match participants based on school region/state/library size/LMS/school type. We suggest an open attitude to the match; there's lots to be learned from those in different situations
